The Highway’s launch of their Mushroom Month menu last night, proved that mushrooms are delicious in any form, even as a dessert!
It’s often hard to find a place that will provide an elegant, artistic and delicious dish in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As The Highway launch their ‘Mushroom Month’ this July, they have definitely raised the bar for their competitors. They’ve put together an outstanding and innovative menu for their customers by creating not only beautifully presented dishes but flavourful meals.
Mushroom Gnocchi
The menu offers a varied range of dishes from light entrees, filling mains, elegant desserts and even vegetarian options. Entrées include ‘Mushroom Soup’ and ‘King Brown Salad’. The soup being the perfect thick, creamy texture you want out of a hearty winter soup and the salad, refreshingly unique in comparison to your everyday hotel salad. Mains included, ‘Shimejji & Confit Duck Leg’ that is so succulent it falls apart in your mouth, the ‘Portobello Burger’ that is excitingly fresh for the perfect lunch option and the ‘Wild Porcini Gnocchi’, which would have to be my favourite. Cooked to perfection in a creamy, white wine sauce and full of flavour– much more elegant than the average pasta dish.
A huge lover of mushrooms, I enjoyed every dish of the night. But if you’re not a mushroom fan like myself, don’t be scared off by the name “Mushroom Month”. These dishes are packed full of flavour with some menu options that are more discreet with their mushroom ingredient. The dessert which, was ‘Button Mushroom and Espresso Chocolate Cake’, was certainly a creative dish in itself. The espresso was definitely the star of the dish, which articulated the discreet flavour of the button mushrooms perfectly.
Take in the flavours of the elegant dishes, as you dine in a warm and cosy atmosphere where live bands create the perfect relaxing mood. Don’t miss out on Mushroom Month at the Highway!
