Australian Currency Close-up. 100 AUDXero, the leading cloud accounting software provider, today announced the release of Xero Tax, the first Australian tax solution developed from a clean sheet in 15 years.

Xero Tax represents a major evolution in tax software for Australian accountants and bookkeepers, making it possible for tax agents to lodge returns on behalf of their clients, entirely online. Paired with the release of a full suite of 2015 tax return forms, available well before the end of the financial year, Xero’s partners now have a solid head start in preparation for tax time.

Other software providers will distribute tax software the same way they have for decades — creating and delivering discs all around the country. By the time they are received and installed, they are often already in need of a patch or update. Conversely, Xero Tax can be accessed at any time, on any device, and is available immediately.

With Xero Tax, bookkeepers, sole practitioners and small–to–medium accounting firms now have a simple tax solution they can access from anywhere in the world. From electronic signatures in documents, to importing records quickly and easily, Xero Tax will significantly reduce the time it takes to meet tax obligations.

Xero Tax users can prepare and securely lodge activity statements and income tax returns, from start to finish, for all of their clients. Xero Tax incorporates two years of tax returns, making it easy for agents to submit tax forms online on behalf of clients on Xero or other platforms.

“We’ve completely rethought the tax process for the 21st century, and changed the way agents look at tax,” said Chris Ridd, Xero Australia Managing Director. “Tax agents no longer need to be chained to their desks after hours and on weekends, just so they can review and lodge client tax returns.”

“We’re giving our customers back their freedom by making it entirely possible for them to meet a client in their favorite café to review their tax return, and lodge it directly from an iPad. Xero Tax and 2015 tax forms are available now, so tax agents have time to familiarise themselves with the easy-to-use platform, in preparation for June 30.”

“Xero Tax has revolutionised the way we think and approach tax returns in Australia,” said Steph Hinds, Founder of Growthwise. “No longer do we need the clunky server in the corner or multiple sets of data. We have this beautiful system now that works on any device that is also integrated with our practice management software. There is nothing on the market rivalling or even coming close to the platform.”

Xero has worked closely with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for the past several years to make it easier for accountants, bookkeepers and businesses to submit returns online, and is the first major vendor to completely utilise the ATO’s next–generation Standard Business Reporting (SBR) platform.
