Spain’s Movistar Team will return to the Santos Tour Down Under in 2015 with an experienced squad of riders eager to make their mark.

In the lineup is sprinter Juanjo Lobato, whose 2014 season included victories in the Tour de Wallonie and the Vuelta a Burgos plus a 4th place finish in the Milan-San Remo.

Race Director, Mike Turtur said Movistar Team had enjoyed a strong past year and would be looking to continue its form at the first UCI WorldTour event of 2015.

“Movistar is celebrating its second consecutive year as the top-ranked team in the world, with 34 victories in 2014,” Mike Turtur said.

“We look forward to welcoming this tenacious group of cyclists back to race in some of South Australia’s most beautiful places on a challenging race course.”

Spain’s Rubén Fernández – winner of the 2013 Tour de l’Avenir – is new to the Movistar Team roster in 2015.

The only non-Spanish rider set to represent Movistar Team in South Australia is Italy’s Eros Capecchi, a Giro d’Italia stage winner whose latest season included 10th place in the Tour de Suisse.

Also in the lineup is Gorka Izagirre, who joined fellow riders in winning the team time trial at this year’s Vuelta a España.

The Movistar Team competing at the 2015 Santos Tour Down Under will be led by sport director José Luis Arrieta and includes riders Eros Capecchi (Italy), Rubén Fernández (Spain), José Herrada (Spain), Gorka Izagirre (Spain), Pablo Lastras (Spain), Juan Jose Lobato (Spain) and Enrique Sanz (Spain).

The Santos Tour Down Under is Australia’s premier international cycling race and will be staged in and around Adelaide, South Australia from 17 to 25 January 2015. The Team Presentation on January 17 will begin at 6pm and be followed by a free concert at 7.30pm featuring ARIA-award winning group Sheppard.
