Bolshoi Ballet Lost IllusionsThe Bolshoi Ballet- Captured Live in HD from Moscow continues at Event Cinemas Marion on 30 March and 2 April 2014 with the big screen world premiere of Lost Illusions.

Lost Illusions is an exquisitely rare and new ballet from the Bolshoi. Created in Moscow in 2011 by Alexei Ratmansky, this particular ballet is accompanied by dramaturgy reviewed by renowned French actor, writer and director Guillaume Gallienne (winner of 5 César Awards for his directorial debut film in February).

Lost Illusions is a stylised adaptation of the novel for the stage, blending thwarted love, ambition and disillusionment with a stunningly detailed 19th century Paris as a backdrop. This narrative ballet will captivate audiences not only through its detailed and sumptuous sets but also performances by Principals Vladislav Lantratov (Lucien, a young composer), Diana Vishneva (Coralie, Paris Opera ballerina), Ekaterina Shipulina (Florine, Paris Opera ballerina) and Artem Ovcharenko (The First Danser).

With Lost Illusions in cinemas for the first time, audiences across Australia will be able to enjoy this ballet rarely seen on stage outside the United States and appreciate this unique ballet based on French writer Honore de Balzac’s classic 19th century novel.

Tickets range from $15 – $23, available at Event Cinemas online or at the box office.

2014 The Bolshoi Ballet Season:
Lost Illusions – 30 March and 2 April
Marco Spada – 11 and 14 May
