World’s Best Shiraz search is a major SA wine event!

wineIt’s the ultimate wine lover’s Cellar Door for one night only at the National Wine Centre at Hackney, with an opportunity to taste from a selection of over 700 Shiraz or Syrah wines at the World’s Greatest Shiraz Challenge ‘V’.

This is the biggest tasting of this varietal held anywhere in the world, and recognition of its place as Australia’s icon wine variety.

The nationally promoted annual event being held on Friday evening, June 18. It is the fifth edition of Winestate’s Shiraz Challenge. Last year the event attracted over 300 local wine industry participants. This year we are opening it up to consumers and interstate visitors so we expect more than double that number.

Ticket holders will be able to taste from hundreds of wines from the magazine’s major international Shiraz judging that is held in the days leading to the event.

The event is managed and presented by Winestate Publishing, Australia’s oldest and most respected magazine authority on Australian wines, the wine industry and wine tourism. Each year Winestate evaluates over 10,000 wines from all regions in Australia and New Zealand with additional tourism information on where to stay and where to eat for its consumer and trade readers. South Australia, with its dominant wine regions, is involved in half the wine tasting editorial.

Winestate Publisher, Peter Simic said the Shiraz Challenge will become a ‘must do’ event for wine industry insiders from around Australia.

“We see this event as being part of the SA Tourism Commission’s campaign to bring wine lovers to the home of the nation’s best wines and friendliest cellar door outlets so close to the city,” Peter said.

“Winestate Magazine actively supports the SA Tourism Commission’s national marketing promotion of Adelaide’s 200 Cellar Doors that are within an hour’s drive of the city.”
