WOMADelaide Planet Talk Program Is Back To Fascinate

WOMDAdelaide Planet Talk program has been announced with a line-up of discussions on groundbreaking issues facing humanity today that is set to fascinate us all.

From March 10th to 13th, 2017 WOMADelaide will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a program continuing to spring surprises, making it one of the ‘must see’ events of the year. One of the highlights for next year will be the ‘Planet Talks‘ program, which will focus on groundbreaking issues facing humanity today.

A fascinating discussion from Carmel Johnston will have us engaged as she talks about how she and five others simulated living on Mars for one year, and how colonising Mars will benefit Earth. Also featured is Kyle Wiens, who will talk about how we should view waste as a resource and try to repair rather than ‘throw away’ things.

There will be a special live conversation between ABC local radio’s Richard Fidler and Sir Tim Smit, founder of the UK’s most famous eco-tourism destination, The Eden Project. It’s a massive horticultural project where they’ve created the largest forest in captivity!

There are so many other Planet Talk sessions set to engage and intrigue. They include a multi-faith discussion led by Australia’s favourite Catholic Father Bob Maguire, and a talk from ABC News 24 presenter Miriam Corowa, about preserving and learning from over 40,000 years Indigenous knowledge and languages.

The Planet Talks program adds to the variety of music, food and wine and other activities on offer across the festival weekend. If you’d like to find out more head to the Womadelaide website.
