Ready for a great weekend of music? Not long now!
The Pipi Pickers are opening the entire weekend at Wirrina, kicking off at 5pm Friday September 4th in the big marquee. Don’t miss it! Get off work early … trust us, they are worth it, so are all our performers!
Organiser Thea Taylor managed to slot in a quick phone call with Glam Adelaide prior to the Festival launch, and gave us an idea of what to expect.
“You get experienced musicians in the same setting as those starting out or learning, so it’s as much about sharing the music as it is showcasing individual acts. Their is a wonderful quality of musicianship available and to be available to workshop with some of the best musicians in the country is just marvellous,”says Taylor.
In its fourth year, the Festival has been consistently well received and people have been surprised to see much more than Bluegrass music, as a variety of genres are represented. “The local community is very supportive, and it’s only 90 minutes from Adelaide in a relaxing setting. Everything is all in one venue, so come on down for the weekend,” an enthusiastic Taylor says.
To have such names as Andrew Clermont, The Pipi Pickers, and The Heggarties to name a few is magnificent, and the platform provided for newer artists is a huge opportunity.
Now, we suggest you come ready for anything – the Festival is all on one site this year and it’s going to be great to have everyone and everything close. (Remember the campground has a bar and cafeteria). Bring warm things and prepare to stay up late for some good music – could be a bit windy and chilly at night so a good jacket would be a good plan for late night sessions! You are most welcome to really settle in for the weekend (or more, if you like to plan a longer stay) – bring your shade tents and everything you need to set up for a comfortable stay.
