Hello Glam Music lovers,

Welcome to a new addition to the Glam Adelaide Music pages- the weekly roundup! This column will introduce new artists, and give a demo of what they have on offer. Getting exposure as an emerging act is always difficult, so we’ll do our bit to get them out there. Have a listen and maybe you’ll discover the next ‘big thing’.

First artist  this week is Adelaide’s own Mike Waters. Web developed by day, singer-songwriter by night, he’s released a new EP called ‘Life‘ with a killer video to go with it for his track ‘Gambling Man‘. It’s a pretty good effort on all fronts and should be well received. Take a look here at Mike’s video involving copious amounts of paint, and if you like it (as we sure do!) then go support him at The Wheatsheaf, Adelaide on Thursday June 11.

Another newcomer to the music world is Paul Galloway, an Afghanistan Veteran who served in the Australian Army for over 20 years who penned a song called ‘It’s Time To Heal- Come On Home‘ to help him and others heal from the wounds, many not visible, that War inflicts on soldiers. It is rare to publicly hear the Soldier’s perspective on war, but Paul’s song tells this story in an apolitical sense whilst reaching out to those who served to try come back to some form of normality following conflict. As a former soldier, I’ve always been critical of how the Military prepares you for war quite well, yet doesn’t prepare you to return to civilian/mainstream life almost at all. ‘It’s Time To Heal’ is a call to ‘come home’ emotionally, and to try putting the memories of war aside if possible.  Paul has compiled some footage of his service to accompany the song in a Video and whilst not technically advanced, it gets the message across adequately. A perfect song to coincide with the Centenary of ANZAC. Thanks for your service Paul, and best of luck with your music!

That’s it for this week, and we hope you take the time to support emerging artists by listening to their music, sharing it, and of course going to see their shows.
