Vogue Names Adelaide In Top 10 Travel Destinations

Adelaide City

Not-so-little ol’ Adelaide has done it again! Our charming city has managed to work its way into another top ten list.

Little ol’ Adelaide has done it again – our charming city has managed to work its way into another top ten list. Prestigious US powerhouse, Vogue (yes arguably the world’s most famous magazine), has named Adelaide in a list of 10 Unexpected Places to Travel This Summer, and we’re pretty chuffed to have made the cut.

We’re still basking in the glory of placing 5th in Lonely Planet’s 2017 Top Travel Regions, but we’re more than happy to add this accolade to the collection. Vogue saw past the graffiti-covered laneways and copious coffee joints of Melbourne, and instead recognised our city for the foodies’ paradise we all know it is.

“Just an hour-drive away is the Barossa Valley, which makes some of the country’s finest wines from some of the world’s oldest vines. Right in town is the original Penfolds Magill Estate, and 20 minutes outside of town is the Basket Range wine region, which is leading the country’s natural winemaking movement.”

The article also paid homage to our world class seafood.

“take a small plane over to Port Lincoln, just an hour away and home to the largest fishing fleet of the Southern Hemisphere where you can eat your fill of oyster, Bluefin tuna, and abalone.”

Featuring on Vogue’s list of 10 Unexpected Places to Travel This Summer:
Sifnos, Greece
Faroe Islands
Adelaide, Australia
Portugal
Åland Islands, Finland
Copenhagen, Denmark
Tofino, British Columbia
Namibia
Indonesia
Baja California, Mexico

Okay, we know we don’t boast the iconic landmarks or the hustle-and-bustle of our more renowned counterparts, but we’ve still got something pretty special going on here. Framed with pristine beaches and world-class wine regions, Adelaide centres on a pretty little square filled with unbelievable food, quaint bars and sparkling green spaces. Why wouldn’t you want to visit!
