Variety On King William Previews Its Incredible Menu

With an extra 100 tickets made available, the biggest fashion long lunch in Adelaide is going to be serving up an incredible menu in a couple of weekends…

One of the Adelaide Fashion Festival’s premier events Variety on King William Road is nigh once again and if you have managed to secure a seat to this outdoor runway show, as always, your feast for the day is to be an outstanding and true celebration of the effervescent food culture of Hyde Park’s main street. Variety on KWR is not your average wine and dine event; their commitment to serve restaurant quality dishes to large crowds is to be admired and more so the months of preparation from the venues supporting is a generous offering all in support of Variety SA. The event organisers just this week have released another 100 tickets due to popular demand but expect a total sell out fast.

Assuming an Asian inspiration in 2016, the four courses take in Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese notes and threw down a challenge for the European institutions of King William Road such as Mulot’s Patisserie and Parisi’s.

Beginning with perfectly balanced canapes courtesy of Ichitaro Dining diners will adore the salty start of soy poached tuna in a garlic ponzu against delightfully fresh sushi rolls of onion, tomato and avocado topped with a pepper mayo. Each course has been carefully matched with either a Wicks Estate, Tomich or Fox Gordon drop and this course begins with style with a Wicks Estate’s Pamela sparkling. San Pellegrino sparkling, Acqua Pana still water and McLaren Vale ales will also be available.

20161006_122138Entrée comes courtesy of the gorgeous Light Bulb Café. A hearty soy and mirin glazed chicken stars alongside standout pickled mushrooms, in an incredibly perfect La Vera haloumi, spinach, beetroot and crispy shallot salad. It is a beautiful Asian take on the modern Australian cuisine Light Bulb does so well.

Two options grace the main course menu; Italian favourites Parisi’s offering the most gorgeous marinated NT barramundi served with black fungi, fresh julienne vegetables in a subtle seafood bullion and Stumps serving master stock pork belly alongside fresh vermicelli noodle salad topped with salted caramel peanuts and fish floss.

20161006_132308Delighting the sweet tooth is Mulot’s Patisserie and By Blackbird, both creating desserts exclusively for Variety on King William; a mango and passionfruit mousse atop a sable biscuit with lychee, fresh mango with a strawberry and passionfruit coulis will be served by Mulot’s and the gorgeous couple at By Blackbird have a unique fortune cookie shoux pastry dessert that plays with punchy ginger crème, zesty lime and green apple jelly and black sesame.20161006_142431
