“Lay your head down in the grass” – it evokes a sense of whimsical abandon; a sunny disposition reminiscent of Philadelphia three-piece Vacationer. Returning with new single ‘In The Grass’,Vacationer pack a buoyant wallop of breezy kaleidopop. It’s the first taste of the band’s forthcoming sophomore LP Relief – out June 20 via Create/Control | Downtown.
A collaboration between The Starting Line’s Kenny Vasoli and Body Language’s Matthew Young and Grant Wheeler, Vacationer emerge stronger and tighter than before; the result of two years on the road with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, The Naked And Famous and Tennis, combined with numerous festival appearances.
New album Relief is clear in both title and intention; unspooling the strings of a wound-up existence in dreamy cinemascope. “Whether through love, exploration or relaxing, we all strive for relief,” says Vasoli. “It’s just a quick flip-of-the-switch away, and think it’s good to be reminded of that.”
It follows the band’s debut offering of 2012, Gone – an ode to wanderlust and escape, widely welcomed by fans and critics alike.
