Bike Art Adelaide is a festival of cycling arts events that explore, express and celebrate everything bike during the Santos Tour Down Under.

On the eve of Stage 4 of the Santos Tour Down Under races, King William Road, renowned for its fashion and food, will come alive for one of the biggest celebrations on the Adelaide Festival of cycling calendar.

All I Have To Do Is Dream is Bike Art Adelaide’s theme for King William Road.

Look out for bicycle themed street decorations made by Bike Art Adelaide in conjunction with Goodwood Primary School, Unley High School, St John’s Lutheran School, Unley Early Learning Centre, Shining Stars Early Learning Centre, Heathfield High School, Urrbrae Agricultural High School, the Adelaide Bike Kitchen and Pepper St Art Gallery.

Urrbrae Agricultural High School’s Year 9 Visual Arts and Design and Technology students have created a range of metal sculptures to capture the spirit of the theme.

Their bicycle art will stay for the remainder of the TDU, but the largest metal sculpture of a Bike Dream Garden is only up for the Gala.

The students used the influence of Bikes, School and Teenage Dreaming to develop concepts and models before the larger scale art pieces were created.

Visual Arts Teacher at Urrbrae, Kate Venning, says all students created concepts and models and a vote was placed for the top three to be developed into full scale artworks.
“All the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of going through a process and develop Artwork for a real purpose and audience,” Kate Venning says.

“We Hope you like them!”

The Unley Gourmet Gala will kick off at 4pm.
