18,000+ locals and visitors will hit Prospect tonight (17th January, 6pm-11pm) for the region’s flagship event, ready to delight in delicious street food, twilight shopping and an abundance of colourful entertainment.

The one night only street party, Tourrific Prospect, stretches 450m between Labrina Avenue and Staples Court.

Prospect Road will be jam-packed with celebrations of the Prospect community’s variety, creative and cultural diversity – all coming together to set the 2017 theme ‘Our Colourful Community’.

With the Santos Tour Down Under (STDU) passing through earlier in the day (Just ahead of 11am), the ‘stage’ will be cleared to celebrate the vibrancy of Prospect and the overall buzz that the STDU brings each year.

Tourrific Prospect will amaze with 85 performers on board including a range of Aboriginal, Indian and African shows on the new ‘performance platforms’.

Four main stages, all sponsored by local businesses – Fenwicks, Residence and Brew Boys, will ensure there is always something to see and hear whilst CLUB5082 (Prospect Town Hall) will take advantage of the current popularity of ‘1990’s Tribute Bands’.

Over 60 passionate local businesses and traders have registered their participation, opting to keep their doors open until late in the evening or offer a pop up stall for visitors to experience South Australian and international product.

Families will find plenty to do with the always popular Kids Zone and Loopy Kids returning once again for 4-13 year olds inspired by the STDU.

The FREE event, now in its 5th year and sponsored by Blackfriars Priory School will see kids ride like the wind, emulating their STDU heroes, on a new street circuit on Prospect Road adjacent to Barker Gardens.

In 2017 Tourrific Prospect welcomes Save the Children Australia as official event charity partner.

Prospect Mayor David O’Loughlin explains that January is a spectacular time to explore Prospect and Tourrific Prospect serves to kick start a year-long relationship with all that the local community has to offer.

“Loopy Kids, Club 5082, global food, amazing entertainment, local beer, wine tastings, dozens of stalls to check out and a genuine family atmosphere that makes it friendly for everyone – it really is a ‘Tourrific’ event!”

“This is perhaps your last best chance for a family night out before school starts up again. Enjoy the very best of summer in Prospect as we showcase everything that we love about our city and others rave about!”
