Touriffic Prospect Street Party Returns For 2018

With cops on unicycles, kids’ bubble show, a Roller Derby demonstration and live street art from Leah Grant and Sarah Boese, Touriffic Street Party is for everyone.

On Monday 15 January from 6pm til 11pm, the Tourrific Prospect Street Party will once again immerse Prospect Road in a colourful celebration of music, twilight shopping and entertainment.

Within its newly envisioned location, extending from Prospect Town Hall past the new Palace Nova cinema complex to Meze Mazi, the Tourrific Street Party tradition continues as local, national and international guests enjoy Prospect’s diverse, creative and colourful community, extending the energy and excitement that is the Santos Tour Down Under.

It has been announced that Monday’s event will be opening with a special live-demonstration from Prospect’s own professional Roller Derby League, The Murder City Roller Girls. Opening the main stage activities following the conclusion of the Loopy Kids bicycle races, The Murder City Roller Girls will skate in front of the main stage and get the party started with drills and roller-skating feats, offering the perfect opportunity for young and old to meet their local Roller Derby stars and pick up a few tips from the best in the business.

There will be music coming from every nook and cranny of Tourrific, as some of South Australia’s most renowned musicians will have everyone dancing the night away, including the nationally acclaimed digital soundscape producer, Oisima (DJ Set), African drumming sensation Bortier Okoe, roots and reggae styling’s from Local Revolution, and urban harmonies from AC5.

For those looking for a more laidback and relaxing mood, why not chill-out on the astroturf and beanbags on Kintore Avenue while soaking up the musical talents of Adelaide’s leading singer-songwriters Hana Brenecki & Mark Curtis, Alana Jagt, Aaron Thomas, Atlantic Street Band and Emily Davis. Club 5082 will rock the Prospect Town Hall with Green Day cover band Basketcase, and if you prefer a more hip and retro atmosphere, Fortune Cookie DJs, DJ Twon and Ruby Chew, will present soulful world music and nostalgic classics as you browse the bespoke market stalls or enjoy a bite to eat from one of the many food traders.

Hosted under the cool canopy of Vine Street Plaza, The Vine Street Market will host over twelve market stalls selling original wares from leading creatives with a myriad of home-wares, fashion, lifestyle, artworks, and jewellery, all best enjoyed while sampling the best local craft beer from Prospect’s own Brew Boys.

As you wander the length of the Prospect Road you’ll discover that Tourrific Street Party is for everyone, with cops on unicycles, kids’ bubble show, a Roller Derby demonstration and live street art from Leah Grant and Sarah Boese. Grown-ups will savour the arrangement of refreshments and food on offer from Prospect traders, while teens and kids will be happily accosted by Fringe-style street performers of all shapes and sizes or jump on their bikes with Loopy Kids and emulate their cycling heroes as they race around the Tourrific street bike course.
