Pony In The Vines Returning To Tomich This Weekend

Imagine: a family-fun weekend sampling wine, wandering through market stalls and petting horses. We couldn’t think of a more relaxing weekend… plus there’s wine, so we definitely can’t complain!

Imagine: a family-fun weekend sampling wine, wandering through market stalls and petting horses. We couldn’t think of a more relaxing weekend… plus there’s wine, so we definitely can’t complain!

Tomich Wines has made this fantasy a reality this summer by opening the family’s private 320-acre vineyard to the public for a family-themed weekend, with a program set to entertain adults, children, food and wine lovers alike, called Pony in the Vines.

Parents can sip Tomich’s new season release of trophy-winning wines under the shade of tents and umbrellas while children can play on the picturesque vineyard lawns. A relaxed weekend for the families, pony rides, face painting and even hay rides in the vineyard are also on offer for just a gold coin donation going towards Riding for the Disabled SA (TBC). A family-friendly menu from local food trucks will also delight, with frozen sweet treats Loca Pops on offer for all.

For the second time at Tomich, a vineyard horse show will allow families a taste of country living with style. A day of equestrian elegance, this is perfect for horse lovers and families who’ve always wanted to learn more about these magnificent animals.

The show includes a fancy dress and a novelty component for the 60 horses. Think plaited and coloured horse tails, crazy costumes, top hats and ribbons. Riders (aged from five years – senior) will also be dressed up in their official horse-showing finery – including hacking jackets, fancy dress and cravats.

The winery has also partnered with one of Adelaide’s most popular markets – Gathered, this year bringing SA-owned arts and crafts to the festival.

Bringing a piece of Gathered to the Adelaide Hills at such a great time of year while introducing more SA creatives to the local scene will add another level to the great event that Tomich puts on as part of Crush. Many people still think that the Hills are so far away, but these people will realise that, in reality, it really isn’t that far at all.

So grab the kids, get your stretchy wine-drinking pants on, and head down to Tomich on February 24.

Tomich’s Pony In The Vines featuring. Gathered will be on from 11am to 10pm on February 24 at Tomich Vineyard – 1403 Onkaparinga Valley Road, Woodside. More details available in the Facebook event here.
