tigerairTigerair Australia is celebrating flying its 16 millionth passenger since domestic operations first began on 23 November 2007 with a special sale commencing at 12:00 pm AEDT today (Tuesday 20 January) that offers tens of thousands of $16* air fares on the return-leg for Autumn travel, across the entirety of Tigerair’s Australian network.

Tigerair Australia’s Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan, says that today’s celebration marks yet another significant milestone for the airline as it continues to go from strength to strength and enables more Australians to fly more affordably.

The 16 millionth passenger is Chantelle Whitehead who is travelling with her partner, Cameron Andrews, both from Darwin, for a holiday in Brisbane this week. They were met at Brisbane Airport on arrival from Darwin yesterday morning (19 January 2015) and were presented with a $1000 travel voucher for future use.

Ms Whitehead says she’s never flown Tigerair before and was encouraged to do so after a recommendation from one of her friends who flew with the airline recently. The couple have been living and working in Darwin for the past two years and are enjoying the lifestyle in the NT.

“There is so much to do and many amazing and unique things to see in both the dry and wet seasons in the NT, but this week we’re enjoying taking some time out in Queensland’s capital city for a few days,” said Ms Whitehead.

The 16 millionth passenger is yet to decide how she will use her $1000 Tigerair travel voucher but is sure she will put it to good use in the near future.

Tigerair launched its daily service between Brisbane and Darwin on 15 April 2014 in response to strong demand from the budget, leisure and adventure markets, in the process providing over 2,500 additional visitor seats weekly through Darwin Airport.

Reflecting on today’s milestone, Ms. Regan says that as Tigerair’s footprint continues to grow the airline remains committed to being the consumer champion when it comes to providing value and choice for Australian consumers.

“Tigerair’s 16 millionth passenger sale offers Australians the opportunity to buy a full priced fare on their outward journey and pay only $16* for the return-leg on a limited number of fares across the entirety of Tigerair’s network. There are tens of thousands of $16* seats on sale across Australia but as always, the early bird gets the worm so bargain seekers are urged to get in quick to avoid disappointment.”

Commencing today at 12:00 pm AEDT, the sale continues over the next three days until midnight on Friday 23 January or until tickets are sold out. Travellers wanting to grab a $16.00* fare will need to be ready to get online and book fast.
