If you think you’ve tried every delightful brunch location across this mighty fine city (seriously how have you managed this task, please tell us!) we think we’ve got a (sort of) new one that’ll blow your socks off!
Last weekend Glam was invited along to Feathers Pavilion to give their newly renovated digs a whirl, and boy were we blown away! If you had set foot in the old Feathers Pavilion you’d know why. This is a completely jaw dropping, Kylie Jenner style transformation, except the end result is less scary and more stunning.
The now bright and airy space is ultra modern with marble benchtops, white tiles, pendant lighting and wooden accents. It has got everything we’d pour into our own kitchens… if only we could cook like them.
We indulged in The Espanola (spanish style omelette) and the Breakfast Board, which was like no breakfast spread we’ve seen in Adelaide thus far. Now, typically, is there anything less sexy than an omelette when it comes to breakfast food? Perhaps dry toast. But that’s about it. But THIS omelette. Dear Lord. This omelette. Filled with sweet caramelised onion, charred corn, fetta, potato, jalapeno and chorizo, packed a serious punch. It came out in its iron skillet that created a fluffy centre with a crispy crust, sprinkled with pecorino and baby herbs looking like the freakin Penelope Cruz of omelettes.
The aforementioned Breakfast Board is absolutely perfect for indecisive folks like us who want it allllll. No need to make your tastebuds decide between savoury and sweet, just have the lot! The board boasts smashed avo, lemon, smoked salmon, fetta, a perfectly poached egg, a delightful little muesli parfait with coconut yoghurt, golden sourdough toast and a teeny pot of Beerenbergh jam. So much yes.
And just when we thought we couldn’t love the menu any more we spotted it. The piece de resistance… the breakfast cocktail list. If you ask us, the one major downside of breakfast is the lack of acceptable drinking. So Feathers’ addition of four simple brekky cocktails to kick things off have our tick of approval. Making it the perfect place for the start of birthday celebrations, hen’s days or just a spiced up brunch with friends.
Look, we’ve harped on about how much we fell in love, so we better give some kind of constructive criticism, just to be fair. The only thing we could’ve done differently is have two knives for the Breakfast Board, one for the sweet treats and jam, and one to chop our smoked salmon. But to be fair, we could’ve simply ASKED for two knives. Lazy buggers that we are.
So if you’re looking for something new fresh and bright for your brunch it’s time to put Feathers Pavilion at the top of your list. The renovations going on around the venue don’t make a dent on what’s happening inside, but we can’t wait to see the result of those either. We would’ve happily sat there until the lunch menu was made available, as we have no doubts that would be equally as fabulous, but alas we have to spread ourselves across the cafes of Adelaide evenly. Note this though, the team at Feathers, in the words of the timeless Arnie: “I’ll be back”.
