The Trouble With Templeton Album Launch

image002After years of blood, sweat, tears and line-up changes, The Trouble With Templeton finally released their debut album Rookie last week. The Brisbane troubadours are now about to celebrate in style, taking off on an eight-date national tour that will see them swooping in on Plus One @ Ed Castle on Saturday 17 August.

Rookie follows in the footsteps of The Trouble With Templeton’s 2011 mini-album Bleeders. But whereas that release was largely the solo effort of frontman Thomas CalderRookie is the full-blooded, thoroughly conceptualised debut proper. With Matt Redlich (Emma Louise, Hungry Kids Of Hungary) at the helm of production, The Trouble With Templeton have realised their potential with an album of throbbing folk rock paeans.

New single “You Are New” is evidence enough of this. The triple j-approved track traipses along with its carefree guitars, waltzy beat and Calder’s inimitable vocals. It’s the marker of what is sure to be one of the more beloved Australian releases of 2013.

The Trouble With Templeton play Plus One @ Ed Castle on Saturday August 17.

Tickets available through Moshtix.

Rookie is out now independently.
