South Australian’s have one eye on hibernation in the winter but the team at The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, Glenelg have the other eye on making the most of the season. Let’s set the scene – clear skies, a crisp evening and a Friday night to take you to the snow… well plastic snow at The Winter Chalet at The Moseley. Ascending up the stairs of this iconic hotel, the beats become louder and take you to feeling that you are in Queenstown, New Zealand. It’s energetic, great smells, great smiles, an almost carnival like atmosphere. It’s the perfect setting to get stuck into their a new winter cocktail list and dining menu.

Here’s what you’ll taste. “1836″ comes out strong, first warming the palate with a infusion of spiced dark rum, honey syrup and lime juice. These are fabulous flavours and a clever garnish of honeycomb gives a crunch like stepping on fresh snow powder. The Stimulant is exactly what it says on the tin; the classic Espresso Martini is starting to become a cult classic with today’s infusologists. A combination of fresh coffee and vodka is like a magnet on a menu. Purchasing certain “snowflaked” cocktails will also put you in the running to win a trip to the real snow.

As the chill whips off the ocean, this is where the venue steps into its comfort zone. Snow junkies chill in all four corners of this very flexible space, the wood fired pizza oven is like a custard to your apple pie or cranberry for your turkey. It just works. They nailed it.

Hungry snowgoers can feast on a selection of pizzas ranging from truffled mushroom to a classic quattro formaggio whilst also washing down a beer or wine. There’s also the choice of a structured 3 course meal if so required.

For people whose popularity is bigger than K2, this new space can entertain you at a wintery breeze. The Winter Chalet runs until the end of August. It’s going to be a hit; actually it is already. Just like Janis Joplin band in the 60’s, it’s going to be a ‘Full Tilt Boogie’.
