The Merchant Of Venice Is Coming To Adelaide Screens

The Merchant of Venice opened at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon in May this year, and now audiences in Adelaide will have the opportunity to see this outstanding production of Shakespeare’s uncompromising tragedy.

With the gold flowing all is well, but when a contract between Bassanio and Shylock is broken, simmering racial tensions boil over. A wronged father, and despised outsider, Shylock looks to exact the ultimate price for a deal sealed in blood.

Picture House Entertainment, who broadcast the Royal Shakespeare Company productions Love’s Labour’s Won and Love’s Labour’s Lost into Australian cinemas earlier this year, will be beaming The Merchant Of Venice direct from Stratford-Upon-Avon to Australia. Directed by award winning Polly Findlay (Arden of Faversham), the play has earned rave reviews in the United Kingdom.
