Have you ever been using the recipes from a cookbook and just wished that you could taste the version that the chef/author would create? This cookbook launch makes that thought a reality when Simon Bryant and The Lane Vineyard bring his new cookbook, ‘Vegetables, Grains & Other Good Stuff’ to life.

The Lane Vineyard in Hahndorf, a veritable haven for food and wine, provides the perfect backdrop for the occasion set to be held on Thursday 6 August.

You may recognise Simon from that television show he was on with Maggie Beer, The Cook & The Chef. He was also the Executive Chef at the Hilton Adelaide for more than ten years, so it is fair to say that food is his thing!

This event will see Simon not only talk to guests about his book, but also about his twenty five year history as a chef and his thoughts on ethical and sustainable food issues.

With a collection of one hundred of his most vibrant, inventive and delicious vegetarian recipes, Simon’s book shares his secrets and techniques to making any vegetable shine. Divided into seasons and drawing on culinary influences from around the globe, this is veggie cooking at its very best.

This brilliant idea actually came from Gavin Williams, owner of Stirling’s Matilda Bookshop, because he wanted to give connoisseurs of cookbooks an opportunity to do more than just look at the pictures.

“People are wanting to put vegetables and seasonal food onto their plates and that is something that becomes a whole lot more interesting when Simon Bryant is in the kitchen to make good food shine,” Gavin said.

“We are delighted to connect the talents and creativity of Simon and the fabulous team at The Lane who will work closely together to bring inspiration, great flavour and ‘good stuff’ to the table.”

“The event is a perfect presentation of the ethos of the Adelaide Hills which so often connects its community with local food and local talent who appreciate all that is home grown and sustainable.”

Tickets to this unmissable event include a seated dinner, with food prepared from the book by the award-winning kitchen at The Lane, and accompanying wines matched to the menu.
