The Curious Squire, Adelaide’s very own James Squire restaurant and bar, are tracing back to their authentic Southern American roots to expand their famously delicious menu.
The Curious Squire Head Chef and ‘Pitmaster’ Drew Akin says, “diners have experienced and enjoyed the new take on barbecue meats, and now we are excited to showcase what other mouth-watering dishes we have to offer.
“The updated menu features more authenticity and originality, with the addition of traditional Southern American dishes such as Meatloaf, Chicken and Waffles and of course the Mac and Cheese Sundae,” says Drew Akin.
Drew grew up in Alabama and is using his knowledge of southern soul food, cajun style cooking and quintessential American dishes to bring the people of Adelaide a menu that reflects an authentic dining style that we are yet to see on our restaurant scene.
Other exciting new dishes include 18 hour Pulled Pork Quesadillas (with four cheeses blended in, droooool), the Double-Double Cheeseburger, Chicken and Waffles (so different to what you’d expect and super delicious), Sweet Potato Fries, Char Grilled Corn on the Cob, and S’mores – A variety of dishes set to entice anyone’s taste buds just in time for the release of the new James Squire American-style Pale Ale – Hop Thief 7.

The Curious Squire Restaurant Owner Antony Tropeano says, “expanding the diversity of Southern American dishes available on the menu felt like a natural progression for The Curious Squire.
“Meals featuring barbecue meats have proven to be a massive hit amongst regulars and new customers. We want to ensure that we provide patrons with dishes that they will continue to love and enjoy.”
Using traditional curing and smoking methods, Drew Akin and The Curious Squire team prepare the meat before it enters the big Yoder smoker, which adds a depth of flavour and tenderness to create tantalising dishes.
Surprisingly, this menu even goes a little deeper; it also reflects poignant moments in American history such as the abolition of the slave trade. Drew explained to diners how these events and the influxes of people of various different nationalities influenced popular food styles in southern America.
Located on O’Connell Street in the trendy North Adelaide precinct, The Curious Squire is ones of Adelaide’s premiere barbecue restaurant, now offering an even larger selection of top quality authentic Southern American food.
