The major summer exhibition, Fashion Icons: Masterpieces from the collection of the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, from Paris, is an Adelaide only exhibition showcasing more than 90 iconic garments spanning seven decades by 55 of the world’s leading fashion designers including Dior, Chanel and Laurent.

Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia Nick Mitzevich said Fashion Icons is one of the most ambitious exhibitions ever held at the Gallery and this is a rare opportunity over summer to see the very best of French Fashion.

Other feature exhibitions include the Islamic exhibition Paradise on Earth, Australian landscapes from the Gallery’s collection, the Extreme Climate of Nicholas Folland and the Asian exhibition, Brush and Ink.

The Gallery will also be offering exciting and engaging children’s activities over the school holidays including the very popular START program on the first Sunday of each month, which is free and includes art activities, tours, live performance and entertainment.

Also the Gallery’s new First Fridays (the first Friday of each month) gives people who work in the city to start their weekend with a drink and something to eat and then immerse themselves in some of the finest art in South Australia.

The Art Gallery of South Australia is open daily 10am-5pm except Christmas Day. For First Fridays the Gallery is open until 9pm.
