The Glam Guide To September In Adelaide

1

We know that our city is constantly bustling with exciting new things to see, do and eat of course! With so much going on organising your outings can be tricky. So how are you to separate the ‘musts’ from the ‘maybes’? We’ve made it super simple and laid it all out for you in our Adelaide September To Do List.

The Royal Adelaide Show (Sept 4-13). Is it that time already? The Royal Adelaide Show has popped up on us again and as always in Adelaide, it’s a must visit. But The Show is so much more than just Dagwood Dogs and bumper cars (although you should always unleash the big kid at heart with these!) Entertain the kids but also try some gourmet SA produce, grab some great handcrafted homewares and check out the cake contests of course!

Father’s Day (Sept 6). Show your main man some love. Father’s Day is here so soon and although the gift giving can be daunting we’ve tried to ease your struggles with our full Father’s Day Guide (read it here.

City To Bay. We know you’ve been hibernating but it’s time to don your sneakers and breathe in some good old fresh air. Whether you’re doing it for a charity or just to feel the tarmac beneath your feet, the air in your lungs and the smell of other people’s sweat in your nostrils this excellent event brings a great sense of community, plus it’s good for you too (shhh, don’t tell your waistline!)

Buzz Honey Cellar Door Launch. Get ready to stock your larder, Buzz Honey is launching a new cellar door in picturesque Totness next to Prancing Pony Brewery. Make a day of it and take the kids to taste, learn and explore or have a grown ups day out and fully experience the bountiful plunder from the area.

Winestate Wine of the Year Event. Now is the perfect time to stock up your cellar for party season. Get along to the Winestate Wine of the Year event at the National Wine Centre on September 4th (more info here.) They will be showing (and letting you taste) 400 of the Australian and New Zealand wines from the 10,000 wines reviewed. Those judges must be mighty tipsy by now.

Festival Season Begins. You may think that festival season doesn’t kick off until summer but you’d be wrong. There’s plenty of fabulous festivals to get along (learn about our favourites here) to but if you ask us the ones you 100% cannot miss are coming up – so make sure you buy your tickets this month so you don’t miss out when they roll around later this year.

• Adelaide Fashion Festival: plenty of fabulous fashion events over 4 days in October to help you get ahead of the trends. With most events ticketed, it pays to get in quick to get yourself a guaranteed seat!

• Feast Festival: whether you’re gay, straight, bi, man, woman, all of the above or somewhere in between, make sure you support this faaaaaaabulous event and get to know our LGBTIQ community. PS did we mention that Conchita Wurst is coming?! Buy your tickets this month so you don’t miss out when it rolls around in November.

• Adelaide Film Festival: If you’re finding that the blockbusters are all starting to look and sound the same (oh yay, another superhero) then make your way to the Adelaide Film Festival. Experience something new, fresh and creative. They launch their program this month so you can secure your tickets early as well.

OzAsia Festival. If you love travel but still haven’t saved enough pennies for the plane ticket get to OzAsia festival. Immerse yourself in some fantastic culture and absorb the sights, smells, tastes and sounds of our Asian neighbours. A festival for all the senses.

Launch Of The Signature Range By Metricon. Forget spring cleaning, why not buy a new house!? Ok, ok. So that’s a little rash, but hey we’re considering it with this month’s official Adelaide launch of the Signature Range by Metricon. Stylish and affordable designer homes from one of the country’s biggest builders. The launch is at the end of the month so once it’s open you’ll be able to check out all the action in Craigburn Farm.

Step Up Your Cheeseboard Game. With the weather getting better, that means more wine and cheese platters right? Step up your cheeseboard game with amazing Woodside Cheese products atop locally-designed Copper and Co funky and unique serving planks.

Eat At Osteria Oggi. If you’re not feeling like cooking, visit the new restaurant from the geniuses that have brought us Press*, Melt and Bread and Bone. Osteria Oggi is a stunning relaxed setting to visit for amazing Italian food. It opens in mid-September.

Visit POP. Top off your evening of dining with a glass of champagne at new bar POP. If you love your bubbly there’s no better place to be, and it’s the Adelaide home of Veuve Cliquot. Says it all really.

Drinks At 2KW. Another amazing place to enjoy a drink is the 2KW rooftop as it gets warmer. Enjoy a spring cocktail and tickle your tastebuds with some nibbles while soaking in the view.

Grab Lunch At Cafe Paparazzi. Nibbling on fabulous tasting platters and cheeseboards can take its toll, so perhaps for lunch you should fuel your body with the good stuff from Cafe Paparazzi. Their clean eating menu is ticking all the right boxes. It also seems to be regularly visited by iconic Adelaide fitness guru Kayla Itsines (so you know it’s legit!)

Shed Centimetres At HYPOXI. We don’t mean to alarm you but do you know what comes after spring? That’s right. Summer. If all this cheese, wine and winter indulgence has you less than prepped for bikini season and (Cafe Paparazzi’s menu isn’t fixing the situation quickly enough!) head to HYPOXI. Their team are ready to help you loose stubborn centimetres and get that banging bod back quick!

These guys are experts at making the perfect cup of java, so grab a cup and take a stroll down to the jetty afterwards. Check out our story on the soon to be open coffee joint here.

Shop At The Gilles Street Market. And finally, enjoy a relaxing stroll through the newly renovated Gilles Street Market. The renovations mean Adelaide’s premier fashion and design market now includes wider aisle ways and more space for your favourite fashion and design stalls!

And that, friends, should fill up your month nicely. If there’s anything we MUST do in September that you think we’ve missed feel free to let us know!
