And The Must Have Accessory For This Year’s UBET Adelaide Cup Is…

Add a splash of red to your Adelaide Cup outfit…

As the official flower of the UBET Adelaide Cup for the second year, red roses and lapel pins will be on sale to racegoers on Monday with proceeds going to Young Variety to assist disadvantaged youth in South Australia.

Red roses have been a prominent feature of the gardens at Morphettville Racecourse throughout its history and the very first race at Morphettville Racecourse in September 1875 was won by a horse named ‘Red Gauntlet’, owned by the Honourable Thomas Elder, who was a key figure in establishing the racecourse.

‘’We are delighted to be working with SAJC on what is Adelaide’s premiere race day,’’ says Josh Pugh, Chair of Young Variety.

‘“Money raised on the day will go towards education programs to assist disadvantaged young people across the State ultimately to achieve better outcomes,” said Josh.

26.2% of South Australia’s homeless are under 18 and the unemployment rate for youth is 20.6%, 5.3% higher than the national average. What better way to help than to get into the theme of the day and add a splash of red to your outfit.

Young Variety is a group of professionals who through innovative networking events and functions, aim to develop the next generation of philanthropists who will continue the great work of Variety – the Children’s Charity into the future.

The group are committed to supporting the vision of Variety and making a difference in the lives of those under the age of 18 who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs; with a particular focus on disadvantaged youth. For more information or to donate, visit variety.org.au/sa.
