A blank wall at Elizabeth City Centre will be brought to life as part of Playford Palace Fringe activities this week.
South Australian artist, Mimby Jones Robinson, has started work on a large-scale art project for Adelaide Fringe’s Street Art Explosion.
Robinson said this was an exciting project as it spreads across one of the main entrances to the shopping centre.
“The contemporary piece is inspired by the royalty-themed Fringe event, Playford Palace, and incorporates my signature designs of goddess-like portraits,” Robinson said.
“To be able to work on a piece in such a prominent location as the Elizabeth City Centre is a great opportunity.
“The artwork will is big and colourful, you won’t be able to miss it.”
The Street Art Explosion piece is one of many under way across metropolitan Adelaide.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the artwork will add to the vibrancy of the Playford City CBD.
“The art piece is just the start of our festivities leading up to our Adelaide Fringe Festival on the 24 and 25 February and the activation of our CBD, transitioning it into a thriving arts and culture precinct,” Mayor Docherty said.
“Arts plays an important role in our community as it promotes community pride and connectedness, as well as encourages education and career pathways.”
Area Centre Manager, Craig Brown said Elizabeth City Centre was excited to be part of the Playford Palace Festival.
“We love to see our city come to life and being part of the Fringe is a great way for us to contribute to its vibrancy,” Mr Brown said.
The artwork by Mimby Jones Robinson will be a permanent feature at the Elizabeth City Centre and we encourage our community and visitors to the region to go check it out.
