The first ever Gorgeous Table dinner – part of the 2014 Gorgeous Festival – will offer a shared feast created by six of South Australia’s hottest chefs.

From the festival’s home region of McLaren Vale, chefs for the November 28 event will include Karena Armstrong of the Salopian Inn, Peter Reschke from d’Arry’s Verandah and Tom Boden of Ellen Street Restaurant at Maxwell’s winery.

They will cook alongside Adelaide chefs Paul Baker from the Botanic Gardens restaurant, Phil Whitmarsh of The Daniel O’Connell and Stewart Wesson from The Flinders Street Project.

Each chef will contribute a unique dish as part of a three course shared platter style dinner, following canapés from 2014 MasterChef runner up and McLaren Vale local Laura Cassai.

Karena Armstrong said it will be exciting to see what the group creates. “Each of these chefs has fantastic credentials and a well-earned reputation so guests are sure to be impressed with the quality and creativity of each dish,” Karen said.

“Personally, I love the concept of collaboration that this dinner promotes – it’s reflective of the whole festival and the McLaren Vale region broadly.”
The dinner will also include various McLaren Vale wines, Coopers Beer, Hills Cider, Bickfords soft drinks and a Moet Champagne Bar.

Dinner Director Sally Cranney, winner of this year’s Best Home Cooked Dish award at the Noosa Food and Wine Festival, said it’s exciting to see the event coming to life.

“Gorgeous Festival has always had a strong focus on premium local food and wine but we’ve also always had a vision to take it one step further.

“Of course, it wouldn’t be Gorgeous Festival without some top live music, so the night will also feature sets from quirky world music act Working Dog Union, standout local act The Timbers and ex Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton.”

Tickets for Gorgeous Table are available individually for $150, or as part of a weekend package. Doors open at 5.30pm on Friday November 28, with the event concluding at 11.30pm.

The Gorgeous Festival runs November 28-29 at Serafino Winery, McLaren Vale
