Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute is proud to announce its 25th Anniversary on Wednesday 1st October 2014. The Institute will celebrate the achievement with a program titled Tandanya 25 – “Back to the Future”. 25 days of Celebration will showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait culture and art whilst officially recognising its funding and community partners.
According to Tandanya CEO, Timothy Ritchie, this is a significant milestone in both South Australian and Australian History, as well as for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia.
“Tandanya 25 is about celebrating where we have come from and looking forward to an extraordinary future, with much exciting change and growth ahead”, Mr Ritchie said.
The celebratory program will commence on Friday 19th September 2014 and conclude on Monday 13th October 2014. Wednesday 1st October is the central day of the celebrations and includes a VIP Gala Event at Tandanya.
The Gala Event will be a unique night to be remembered. Commencing with formal presentations and special guest performances, the evening will welcome and celebrate those who have supported Tandanya’s vision from past to present. Following the formalities, Tandanya will become an Open House for the evening, allowing guests to move through the galleries and spaces, while being entertained by local Aboriginal artists and musicians.
Partners, supporters and the wider community will be invited to participate in twelve days of festivities either side of the main event, which will include daily cultural performances plus a variety of forums, tours, art exhibitions, and interactive workshops.
The calendar of events for Tandanya 25 will be published on Tandanya’s website and communicated to Tandanya’s members and supporters via the e-newsletter over the coming weeks. Many of the celebratory events will require registrations as places are limited.
