South African international Botha has been a stand out for the Adelaide Strikers over the last few seasons, bringing aggression and leadership to the side and was a standout in the Strikers’ penultimate game, taking 2/11 against the Brisbane Heat.

After missing most of the Matador One-Day Cup through injury, Botha returned in the last game against Tasmania. On the batsman-friendly North Sydney Oval, Botha frustrated the Tasmanian top order with his economical bowling to finish with 1/31 as South Australia secured their first victory of the tournament.

On the comeback trail from injury, left-arm orthodox spinner, Jon Holland took four wickets in his four appearances for the Adelaide Strikers last season, including 2-19 against the Melbourne Renegades in the last game of the season.

Holland was in good form throughout the Matador One-Day Cup, taking eight wickets at an economy rate of 5.29 including an impressive 3/39 against the Western Warriors in his most recent match.

The Adelaide Strikers’ bowling line-up already includes young leg-spinner, Adam Zampa as well as pacemen Shaun Tait, Michael Neser, Ben Laughlin, Kane Richardson, Gary Putland and Chadd Sayers. Adelaide Strikers coach, Darren Berry is excited to have so many bowling options at his disposal.

“I believe we have one of the best bowling line-ups in the league and these new signings will add to the selectors’ headaches as we pick our best side for each game,” said Berry.

“The addition of Botha and Holland rounds out our spin attack nicely. They, along with Adam Zampa, have performed strongly recently in the Matador One-Day Cup and it is great to see them come into the summer in good touch.”

“Botha is the ultimate competitor and we have seen how his driven nature can lift the side at crucial times. He will continue to factor into our plans to frustrate the big-hitting opening batsmen throughout the Big Bash.”

“Jon Holland definitely showed glimpses of his best last season and in the recent Matador One-Day Cup; we are excited to have him back in the side again this summer.”

Adelaide Strikers BBL|04 squad so far: Johan Botha, Jono Dean, Travis Head, Brad Hodge, Jon Holland, Phil Hughes, Trent Lawford, Ben Laughlin, Tim Ludeman, Michael Neser, Kieron Pollard, Gary Putland, Kane Richardson, Chadd Sayers, Craig Simmons, Shaun Tait, Adam Zampa.
