Sidewood Estate’s Latest Pear Cider Wows On Debut

Sidewood Estate, from the Adelaide Hills, has just released their latest award-winning Pear Cider made from handpicked Adelaide fruit; and let us just say, WOW.

The accolades for Sidewood Estate just keep coming in, with the latest being for its Pear Cider which has made a highly impressive debut.

Exhibiting the product for the first time at the Perth Royal show, the newest product release from Sidewood has taken top prize at the event for ‘Best Cider or Perry’.

Effectively the Best in Show award, Sidewood Estate’s Basket Pressed Pear Cider was the highest scoring cider or perry from all eligible classes.

Sidewood Estate ciders also won Gold and Silver for their pear and apple cider respectively in the ‘Best Cider and Perry – Dry, no added flavours’ category.

It’s an incredibly impressive debut for the first release of Sidewood Pear Cider, and follows suit from the release of its Apple Cider which was awarded Champion South Australian Exhibit and Top in Class at the 2014 Royal Adelaide Cider Competition.

Sidewood Estate handcrafted premium apple and pear ciders are sourced only from orchards in the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills. The 6-week process sees Sidewood Cider add no concentrate or syrup, and the handpicked local apples are naturally tasty and basket pressed.

Located at Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood is owned by vignerons Owen and Cassandra Inglis who purchased the vineyard in 2004.

Don’t worry if cider’s not really your bag, because this award-winning estate also makes wine. Made from their estate grown grapes, the wine is produced in their own Adelaide Hills located winery. The highly awarded Sidewood wines include a Decanter Award for their 2013 Mappinga Shiraz.

The Winemakers behind the production of the estate’s wine and cider, are internationally acclaimed Darryl Catlin and Natasha Mooney.
