Seth Sentry wins the Primaries and is set for Stella Election Campaign

An political campaign is looming, but it’s not our Federal game of point the finger. It instead is being driven by Aussie hip-hop icon Seth Sentry as part of his ‘1969 Campaign Trail’ tour. The title for the tour was lifted from the single 1969, which talks about an alternate history where the US blows up the moon rather than landing on it, and given the current political climate it has taken on a life of its own.

The tour includes a large number of regional (perhaps marginal is more apt) dates. “I grew up in a small town,” Sentry explains, “and I know what it is like to miss out, plus it makes for a raucous night when a region’s population converges on the one town.”

Joining Sentry on the tour is friend and peer REMI, who is rising quickly through the hip-hop ranks. The two met through the hip-hop scene and have worked together previously, REMI featuring on Sentry’s track Nobody Like Me. Sentry chose REMI because “he has a “dope” personality…he can really warm up the crowd…and besides on tour you really want someone who you get along with.”

As far as the live show goes Sentry explained that it is a whole new show, ‘it’s completely fresh, torn down and restructured’. When asked how he felt about touring ‘untested’ material Sentry says “half the fun is in the risk of keeping it fresh, otherwise I might as well be working 9 to 5.”

Besides vague notions of launching a campaign for ‘World Leader’ Sentry is keeping any overseas plans quiet. The 1969 Campaign Trail tour begins on the 30th of June until the 13th of August. Seth Sentry performs at Adelaide’s The Gov on July 30. Tickets and more information available at www.sethsentry.com.
