Scouts Rally SA iPad AppSpectating at Scouts Rally SA will be easier than ever thanks to the launch of a free new iPad app, a first for Australian rallying, and possibly world rallying.

The Scouts Rally SA iPad app makes it easy for spectators to follow the rally and travel to different spectator points in Mount Crawford, Mount Barker, the iconic Barossa Valley and Gawler.

The iPad app addresses a number of previous challenges for spectators of the exciting and dynamic sport of rallying.

Find spectator points

Interactive Google Maps allow spectators to get customised directions from their current location to each spectator point. No more difficult directions to each point – personalised turn-by-turn directions!

Know when to expect Scouts Rally SA at each point

A “When, what, where” summary clearly shows what you can see, when and where, making understanding itineraries and rallying jargon a thing of the past.

Get to know the competitors

A complete guide to each category of Scouts Rally SA, the differences in cars, competitors in each category, and a summary of season points so far. Know who is coming up, what car they’re in and pick your favourites!

Keep up to date

A heavy social media focus means that spectators can directly interact with their favourite drivers as they see them. Send them encouragement tweets, share photos or encourage your friends to get involved.

“It is most appropriate in this connected world to provide critical information in this manner, and it is something that will appeal to rally fans old and young alike.” Ivar Stanelis, Clerk of Course, Scouts Rally SA. “The Scouts Rally SA iPad app advances the ability of people to view the event exponentially, and it is a massive step forward for Scouts Rally SA, and rallying generally, here and abroad.”

The app has been developed by Adelaide-based Pure Motorsport. It is supported by a mobile friendly website with maps for each spectator point, and a printable guide. Pure Motorsport is a long-term partner of Scouts Rally SA that provides motorsport media and marketing support, and in 2014 has provided all design and marketing services to the event.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to better promote the sport of rallying and make this exciting sport accessible to the community,” said Pure Motorsport Team Principal Ryan Jones. “We felt this platform was an ideal way to test the waters for an interactive spectating experience, and will look to support more platforms in the future.”

Scouts Rally SA will be the fourth round of the 2014 East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship and the third round of the 2014 South Australian Rally Championship. It will be held on the roads surrounding Gawler, Mount Crawford, Mount Barker and the Barossa Valley 1, 2, 3 August 2014.

Tickets to the Main North Renault Super Special are available now from VenueTix and www.scoutsrallysa.com.au.
