Santa Claus Is Coming To The Beach

One horse-and-carriage, two fire trucks, three nativity scenes, four marching groups, five boats, six dance troupes, seven school groups, eight marching bands… and 100 Charlie Chaplains. PLUS, a huge panther, a giant platypus, a kangaroo on wheels, and a man-sized tiger – with reindeer, fairies, angels, snow people, elves, clowns and unicorns… AND a monster truck! (Oh, and a very popular, very jolly chap in red and white!)

The above might seems like the sugared dreams of a kid on Christmas Eve, but we can assure you it will be a reality this weekend at the Glenelg Christmas Pageant!

You’ll find us down on Jetty Road, kids in tow, sunblock and hats on (plus the essential sidewalk chalk) to watch the colourful parade of clowns, marching bands, dancers and festive local groups dancing, marching, walking, rolling, driving, skipping and somersaulting their way down Jetty Road to welcome Santa to the Bay as the Glenelg Christmas Pageant from 10.30am on Sunday 26 November!

Best of all, it’s not at the crack of dawn!!  City of Holdfast Bay Mayor Stephen Patterson says there’s free pre-pageant entertainment from 9.30am (including free giveaways for the kids!), with the main event kicking off at 10.30am, followed by free face painting, balloon twisting, live music and entertainment in Moseley Square.

Best of all, the big man himself will be jumping off his sleigh in Moseley Square. So don’t forget the camera, because we’ve been informed by his elves that he will be ho-ho-happy to have his picture taken with your children for free!

The Pageant will travel along Jetty Road, Glenelg (from Rose Street) and into Colley Terrace. Details on road closures here.
