Review: Trouble And Strife Cafe

Trouble and Strife Cafe has nestled itself quietly into a nook along Goodwood Road a few months ago. Although this is a ‘blink and you might miss it’ kind of venue, it’s also a case of ‘small but mighty.’

Trouble and Strife Cafe nestled itself quietly into a nook along Goodwood Road a few months ago. Although this is a ‘blink and you might miss it’ kind of venue, it’s also a case of ‘small but mighty.’

We stumbled across this little venue one weekday morning not long after they had opened and we’ve never looked back.

The wonderful barista Lachie is always full of smiles and happy to chitty chat to us, even though we often show up looking less than glamorous after our gym sessions! He makes a mean cup of java and they even have single origin cold drip coffee for those coffee connoisseurs among us.

The menu here is wonderful and tasty. It can be a little tricky if you’re gluten intolerant, but you’re always welcome to order anything without the toast of course. No dramas for us though! We love bread. Our fave is the smashed chickpeas, tomato salsa and feta on sourdough toast with added avocado. It’s fresh, filling and perfect for brunch, and comes in at only $12. That’s certainly worth mentioning: prices here are way lower than anywhere else in the area serving breakfast (that we know of) averaging at around the $9 mark.

We love ordering from the specials menu at Trouble and Strife as it’s constantly evolving and the kitchen is always coming up with new and exciting flavour combos. We’ve also been inclined to grab one of their soups to get us through these cold months (thank god they have basically come to an end) so we can get brekky and lunch sorted in one swift trip! The soup varieties change regularly too, but our fave is when the Thai Pumpkin flavour rolls around.

If you’re in a hurry they’re happy to serve your meal to go, and they have a great range of little sweet treats too. Grab a Whoopie Pie if they have any, thank us later.Trouble1

The weather has been pretty foul since this lovely little joint opened, but they’ve never failed to warm our souls. We can’t wait to see what Summer brings!

Trouble and Strife is open Monday to Friday 7.30am – 3.00pm and weekends 8.00am – 2.00pm
