Glam Adelaide was lucky enough to be amongst a sea of screaming fans Tuesday night during Lady Gaga’s artRAVE spectacular in Brisbane. The artRAVE tour was scheduled to visit Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and tomorrow night, Sydney, unfortunately skipping Adelaide.

artRAVE is Gaga’s first concert back in Australia in two years, and fans were relishing the moment as they knew it would be a while before it comes around again.

People watching while walking into Brisbane Entertainment Centre was a show in itself. True “Little Monsters” (as Gaga likes to call her hardcore fans) were dressed to impress. I don’t think I’ve seen so many guys in heels. All in the name of Gaga, of course.

The show’s support act Lady Starlight played a rave set that thumped on for a good 45 minutes. While it would have been a great act at a real rave, the 12 year old girl’s Mum next to me stated that it gave her a headache. I didn’t want to give away my age (sensitive topic right now) so I just pretended I was loving it.

artRAVE began with Gaga emerging on stage, fully gowned with wings and sporting the first of many wigs. Props to the dancers, costume makers, choreographers and set crew. The whole performance was not just a show, it was an experience.

Gaga stopped the show at several stages to read fan letters, pull lucky show-goers on stage and invite even luckier groups backstage. It was clear that she had a message throughout the whole performance. “Liberate yourselves, listen to your own mind, don’t let them control you” she preached to the audience.

The best performances of the night go to “Venus” for the visuals, “G.U.Y” for the amazing choreography, and “Dope” for her powerhouse vocals that filled the stadium. This lady is the real deal guys. All Gaga’s vocals were live with no intermission, full-on dancing and costume changes that happen so quick you question how it actually happens.

Overall artRAVE was one of the most visual, interactive, inspiring and entertaining shows I have seen to date. Even if you aren’t a Lady Gaga fan, her shows are something to be seen at least once in a lifetime.
