REM+Tuition in Adelaide specialises in face-to-face tuition for primary and secondary school students designed to provide additional learning support and accelerate pupils’ learning in a wide range of subjects, all taught by specialist tutors.

In 2015, REM+ Tuition are offering holiday courses designed to consolidate and extend pupils’ skills in maths, and a further range of short courses designed specifically for secondary students to help them to consolidate the key skills they need for sustained academic success.

Maths workshops are taking place from January 21 – 23 and these cater for pupils in years 2, 3 and 4, years 5, 6 and 7, or years 8, 9 and 10. These 6-hour workshops (3 x 2-hour sessions) are designed to help students consolidate and build upon their previous year’s learning while also preparing them for the upcoming school year in 2015. Taught by REM+ Tuition’s specialist maths tutors, the courses allow pupils to work in small groups while also receiving close personal attention.

A range of courses for secondary school pupils also begin in February 2015. Designed to help students develop key skills that are of value across the curriculum, the courses are taught by specialist tutors and are structured so that students gain concrete skills that they can take with them into the new school year.

The 5-hour Essay Writing course that is being offered to year 9 and 10 students will equip pupils with the skills they need to be able to write clear and coherent essays in response to both fiction and non-fiction texts. The classes will focus on practical skills, such as how to take notes effectively, how to organise writing, and how to construct introductions and conclusions. Students will have the opportunity to write their own essays and put the techniques they learn into action.

A shortened 2-hour version of the Essay Writing course is also available for students in years 11 and 12.

Students in years 9 and 10 also have the opportunity to take part in a 5-hour Study Skills course that is designed to prepare them for the greater demands and increased workload they face as they progress up the school. The course encourages pupils’ independence and organisation, and shows them ways in which they can plan and manage their homework and coursework, and how to strike an effective work-life balance.

The course is also available in a shortened 2-hour version for year 11 and 12 students.

Additional courses on offer also include Australia and the Wider World, a course designed to introduce pupils to critical thinking and writing skills in the context of a wider understanding of local, national and international issues and problems, and Getting to Know Will Shakespeare, designed to introduce students to Shakespeare’s life, times and plays in preparation for, or to enhance their study of his work at school.
