Redsalt Restaurant: Showing Us How A Summer Menu Should Be!

When food just gives you all of the feels…

We love food. Stating the obvious? Yeah, maybe, but seriously, how good is it! So you could say that our reaction to being invited to the Redsalt Restaurant’s Summer Media Dinner was fairly calm and relaxed… Lies! We were totally ready for a delicious food feast and we couldn’t wait!

Set in the beautiful Crowne Plaza, this restaurant is the perfect blend of fine dining in a comfortable setting. And you just know that an event is going to be good when, before the food has even started rolling out, the hosts encourage you to eat as much as possible. Well that was our cue…

To start with, we had local charcuterie meats and house made bread served with hommus, sundried tomato and olive tapenade washed down nicely with a glass of bubbles. We are big fans of options, so you know that we enjoyed this one! Plus, when food is paired with bubbles, you can’t go wrong.

Entree was quick to follow and it was a beautifully presented individual tasting plate with gazpacho, smoked heirloom carrots and roasted carrot dip with a rye crostini base, kingfish tartare with native lime and crispy pork belly. There were a few heroes on this plate but the gazpacho stole it for us!

After doing what the hosts had told us by eating as much food as possible, we needed a small breather. As we contemplated undoing our top button (don’t judge us) we pondered over our choice of main. We only had six to choose from. SIX! In the end the Lobster and Prawn Ravioli with a cherry tomato brandy glaze and organic finen herbs won us over. It was absolutely delicious but we may have had a serious case of food envy when we saw a few of the other mains being put down… In particlar the Pan Seared Ocean Trout. We will be back for you!

By this point we were seriously stuffed, but has that ever stopped us? Absolutely not. There was a dessert tasting plate to be eaten. With a selection of miniature desserts this was our kind of jam. Coconut Panna Cotta, Hazelnut Trilogy (Hazelnut Ice Cream, Cheesecake and Parfait) AND Chocolate Mousse – yes, it was seriously dessert heaven and we want to visit every day.

With the Fringe set to start in the next few weeks, Redsalt Restaurant is perfectly located to enjoy a beautiful dinner before heading to a show, or if you are just looking for a new place to try.
