Athletics South Australia and Flinders University have recently announced a new partnership agreement for Fitzy’s 5 – South Australia’s premier 5km fun run.
The deal will see Flinders University as the naming rights partner of the event through until 2016 and Flinders University also become the Official Education Partner for Athletics SA.
Fitzy’s 5 is a 5km community focussed run and walk around the streets of Adelaide which raises funds for cancer research and honours the memory of South Australian dual Olympian, David Fitzsimons, who passed away from cancer at 58 yeas old.
Athletics SA Chief Executive, Adam Bishop, said they’re incredibly excited about the deal and opportunity to work with a well-respected and prominent institution renowned for its excellence in teaching and research.
“We are very proud to be the naming rights partner for this event and the Official Education Partner for Athletics SA.
“The Flinders University Fitzy’s 5 is already the largest timed 5km fun run in South Australia with over 1000 participants and this partnership will help us take awareness of and participation in the event to a new level”, he added.
Flinders University will work closely with Athletics SA to deliver integrated learning opportunities to it students through hands on involvement in a range of project areas.
“The focus will be on providing quality real-world learning experiences that importantly, benefit the students, the university and Athletics SA’s operations”, Bishop said.
