Adelaide has an abundance of fantastic dining options, including the ever-popular Ginza – Adelaide’s biggest Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately disaster struck last year in the form of a restaurant fire, but the team at Ginza have risen from the ashes and delivered a new and improved dining venue for lovers of their amazing food. Owner Johnny Yung has taken a positive with the experience, saying “We don’t want to focus on this being an unfortunate event but an event that can lead to the bigger and better things.”

The Ginza Japanese Restaurant is now re-opening the front dining area after its 1st phase renovation.

The newly designed venue features authentic Japanese cuisine with a modern twist in its wooden and rustic interior. The wooden design along the guest seating areas makes the space stands out more and has created fluidity throughout. The rear garden yard features traditional Japanese tatami and outdoor seating and offers the first Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) in Adelaide. You’ll also notice the elegantly designed wine cabinet along the wall showcasing variety of wines and sakes. It makes you feel like grabbing a bottle and opening it on the spot to accompany the delicious Japanese cuisine you ordered.

The artful presentation of food on its appropriate and beautiful tableware adds so much to the enjoyment of the meal that it needs a mention.  Signature dishes include the sashimi and sushi platter, and teriyaki flavored dishes which will definitely satisfy your cravings for Japanese food. An additional modern twist menu will be introduced at the beginning of the 2015 so make sure you watch out for it.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers the genuine (hard-to-find) Japanese food, it should be your next dinner destination! Located on Unley Road, it’s only a 5 minute drive from the city center. And if you are interested in Japanese culture, check with the restaurant when they will have Japanese traditional performance on.

Johnny Yung says the 2nd phase of the renovation will start at the beginning of 2015 incorporating unique featured design at the front dining area, Teppanyaki bar, private dinning room and outdoor dining…. Watch this space!
