Former MasterChef contestant and renowned chef Andre Ursini has created a mouth-watering menu featuring the best of the Fleurieu Peninsula for racegoers in the luxury Eden Marquee at Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day.

Andre has combined spring flavours with his signature regional Italian cuisine using local favourites such as Mt Compass marron and Normanville Hayfield lamb.

Held on Sunday, November 23 at the picturesque Strathalbyn Racecourse, Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day is more than just a horse race. It’s a celebration of the best gourmet food and wine the Fleurieu Peninsula has to offer.

The exclusive Eden Marquee provides racegoers with a high-end, decadent atmosphere to mingle and enjoy racing at its best- all while indulging in premium Langhorne Creek wines, James Boag beer and Andre’s grazing menu.

Wines by well-known labels Bleasdale, Bremerton, Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy, Howlin’ Gale, Lake Breeze and The Winehouse will be available on the day by the bottle or glass.

Andre, who also runs Andre’s Cucina and Polenta Bar in Adelaide, is looking forward to being involved.

“It’s my first time at the races in this capacity and I’m really excited about being involved,” Andre said.

“I’ve put this menu together especially for Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day with spring and the amazing Fleurieu Peninsula produce in mind.”

Andre will also provide a gnocchi bar in the general admission area, so no-one misses out on his sought-after Italian fare.

Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day this year celebrates its 21th birthday, an achievement Strathalbyn Racing Club Chairman Clynt Johansen says highlights the event’s popularity.

“It’s gone from strength to strength over the years and has become a highly-regarded, fun event that’s not to be missed,” Clynt said.

“It’s a great opportunity to enjoy not only the racing, but the fabulous food and wine that’s available right here on the Fleurieu Peninsula.”

Robyn Follett, from the highly-regarded Lake Breeze boutique winery, is looking forward to serving her award-winning wines noted for their depth of flavour.

“Our family have been grape growers in Langhorne Creek for 120 years and winemakers for almost 30. We’re passionate about the region and producing the best wine possible,” Robyn said.

“Langhorne Creek Vignerons’ Day gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase our wines and for others to enjoy them.”

Popular Adelaide band the Happy Leonards will play in the main area throughout the day and attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic rug and chairs for a more relaxed outing.

Gates open at 9.30am and the first race starting at approximately 1pm.
