In a world where winks, pokes and text messages have come to replace real human connection, a new iPhone app is fighting the trend.

Pozee, which launched in Australia this month, has found the solution to getting singles to interact the old fashioned way – through conversation, encouraging singles to put down their phone, look up and re-engage with the people around them.

Pozee’s co-founder Joanna Hayes, believes people want to bring back old school charm and chemistry to dating.

“Many people, especially women, are growing tired of the endless winks, pokes and impersonal correspondence from online and mobile dating,” Ms Hayes said.

“They are also becoming acutely aware of the permanence of the content shared through the web and its repercussions for their personal and professional lives.”

Using your phone’s location services, Pozee enables singles to identify each other at a venue and show their interest in meeting face-to-face, then it is up to either party to approach the other in normal conversation.

“When you eliminate the uncertainty about whether another person is single and open to being approached, you remove a large part of the fear of rejection that often holds people back from approaching one another,” Ms Hayes says.

“And with the private feature, users can control who they would like to approach them.”

The beauty of Pozee lies in its simplicity but also the careful attention that has been paid to those often neglected user concerns such as privacy, safety and battery drain.

Pozee is currently available in Australia only, with plans to release in the US later this year and the rest of the world shortly thereafter.
