SA fashion designer and Young Australian of the Year 2017 Paul Vasileff has two show stopping gowns on the 2017 Oscars red carpet.

South Australian fashion designer and Young Australian of the Year 2017 Paul Vasileff has two show stopping gowns on the 2017 Oscars red carpet.
Rosalind Ross, partner of Mel Gibson, wears a pastel nuage Paolo Sebastian French tulle ball gown from the label’s Wildflowers collection, featuring delicate Italian embroidery.
Tony winner, actress and singer Cynthia Erivo is making her Oscars red carpet debut in a couture French lace corseted ball gown with pockets features embroidery from the label’s The Snow Maiden collection, which was inspired by Russian folktales.
Having been named Young Australian of the Year 2017 earlier this year, Paul Vasileff and his label continue to go from strength to strength.
“For someone to choose to wear one of our gowns to the Oscars is an absolute honour,” designer Paul Vasileff said.
“As a South Australian label this is an incredible opportunity to have,” Vasileff said.
Paolo Sebastian previously dressed presenter Giuliana Rancic at the 2014 Oscars, and most recently styled Corinne Foxx, daughter of actor Jamie Foxx, at the 2016 Golden Globes.
The label is renowned for its dedication to the local Australian fashion industry, manufacturing couture garments in South Australia with a staff of fifteen.

The Designer

At just twenty-six, Paul Vasileff’s personal achievements include being named the 2017 Young Australian of the Year, showing at London Fashion Week 2010 and graduating from Milan’s Europeo Istituto di Design.

The young boy who learned to sew with his grandmother now heads a label that has become a national icon, captivating clientele and media alike with his whimsical designs and expert tailoring. Vasileff is a welcomed member of both the Australian Fashion Chamber and the Asian Couture Federation.

A perfectionist with a penchant for classic beauty, the Adelaide designer has impressed the industry with his skill and the scope of his creative vision. Vasileff has a hand in every facet of the business and designs every couture gown that the label manufactures in the South Australian atelier.

The Label

The 2007 launch of the first Paolo Sebastian collection marked the seventeen-yearold designer’s foray into the fashion world. A groundbreaking show at Sydney’s 2012 Fashion Palette launched the label into the international sphere. In 2015 the label closed the Adelaide Fashion Festival with a thirty-eight piece collection, garnering further attention from international media. July 2016 saw Vasileff and his team launch the Gilded Wings collection in Paris, becoming the first South Australian label to showcase in the city. The label’s 2016 Adelaide Fashion Festival runway was opened by Coco Rocha and received national and global media attention.

Styling

Paolo Sebastian gowns have been worn at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and published in Vogue Australia, Martha Stewart Weddings and Harper’s Bazaar Australia. Celebrity fans of the label include Coco Rocha, Giuliana Rancic, Sonam Kapoor, Corinne Foxx, Megan Gale, Delta Goodrem and Carrie Bickmore.
