On the eve of the 24th Festival, the McLaren Vale Sea & Vines Festival event organisers are expecting a record attendance of over 27,000 people to visit the iconic South Australian wine region for a weekend of indulgence, decadence and delight.
Celebrating the culinary and winemaking traditions of South Australia’s premier gourmet destination, the June long weekend will see over 35 dedicated events taking place across McLaren Vale. With themed dinners with celebrity chefs and winemakers, structured masterclasses and demonstrations, live music, jumping castles and petting zoos – there’s an event to suit the whole family.
McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association General Manager, Jennifer Lynch, is excited to again showcase the region’s world-class wineries, unique personality and picturesque landscapes.
“Each year Sea & Vines brings a wave of festive atmosphere to McLaren Vale and provides our businesses the perfect platform to promote the unique experiences on offer all year round,” said Ms Lynch.
“Visitors to this year’s Festival will enjoy a wide-ranging program of events and with over 25 of our region’s wineries participating – there’s an event to suit every palate and pocket!’
Adding to the excitement is the chance to sample some of Australia’s highly awarded and renowned wines with many of the wineries included in the 2016 program recently recognised with national and international awards including Angove Family Winemakers (platinum medal at the 2016 decanter World Wine Awards), Penny’s Hill (2014 ‘Edwards Road’ Cabernet Sauvignon named ‘World’s Best Cabernet’ at the Concours International Des Cabernets in France) and Woodstock Wines (‘South Australian Fortified Trophy’ for Woodstock ‘Old Fortified’ Non-Vintage at the International Wine Challenge).
The McLaren Vale Sea & Vines Festival is held over the June Long weekend, 10 – 13 June across the McLaren Vale region.
