Following on from its previous success, the South Australian Food Users’ Guide is being reproduced to further help chefs, retailers and the general food service market across Australia to source, prepare and make the most of South Australia’s premium food.

“The Guide was first released in 2013, through a partnership between Food South Australia and Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), as part of the Premium Food and Wine from our Clean Environment strategic priority”, says Catherine Barnett, CEO Food South Australia.

“It provides insight into South Australia’s food produce and products, and includes an A-Z directory of over 350 companies, plus tips on handling and storage, seasonality, master classes and the benefits of using local food,” says Catherine.

“Consumers increasingly want to know where the food they are being presented with comes from, who makes it and how it is produced.

“The Guide quickly became a valuable resource, with connections made between producers and food users’ such as chefs, restaurateurs and food retailers. It also helped users learn and share the story of the produce they choose to serve customers.”

A second edition of the Guide is now being produced, and Food South Australia is again connecting with companies and groups across Adelaide and the regions to ensure the most comprehensive listing of South Australian food companies is available in the Guide.

The A to Z listing of South Australian food companies is the critical component of the Guide, serving to provide a contact point to all users’ to source South Australia food, and details product and distribution availability.

Listing in the Guide is FREE for all food producers and manufacturers. Spirit, beer and cider companies are also invited to list in the second edition.
