varietyvintageTickets have just gone on sale for one of the most exciting and unique wine events of its kind in Australia.  The sixth annual Variety Vintage Luncheon will be held on Friday, 14th November at the National Wine Centre, sponsors of this prestigious event, which raises much needed money for South Australian children in need.

The Master of Ceremonies will be one of Australia’s foremost wine writers and presenters, Jeremy Oliver, and guest speaker Dr Fiona Woods.  Participating wineries will be Tim Adams, Charles Melton, Henschke, Elderton, Barossa Valley Estate, Brothers in Arms, Kaesler, Majella, Penny’s Hill, Peter Lehmann, St Hallett and Wick’s Estate.

A wine affair not to be missed, the Variety Vintage includes a silent auction with private cellar collection pieces and a main wine auction of lots from twelve barrels of high quality 2013 vintage wine, specially bottled and labelled for this event from high profile wineries.

Enthusiasts will enjoy the range presented including Tim Adams The Aberfeldy, Charles Melton Crown Village Shiraz and Kaesler Bogan Shiraz to name a few, all of which will be on offer as tastings prior to the luncheon.

The concept for the event was born in 2007 by Clare Valley Winemaker, Variety Vintage Chairman and a committed supporter of the local community, Tim Adams.  Naturally collaborative, Tim approached eleven leading South Australian winemakers asking them to back the cause by donating a barrel of their finest previous year’s vintage.  The response was extremely positive and the first Variety Vintage event ran in 2009, filling the room and raising over $135,000 net.

‘’It is great to see so many well respected wineries come on board to help empower children in need,” he said.

“There is nothing better than a fantastic food and wine event, and to know that you helping kids at the same time just adds extra enjoyment to the day,” said Tim.

Variety Vintage has raised over $650,000 (net) to date for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.  Proceeds will go towards providing a large range of products and services for children such as a prosthetic arm or leg enabling them to walk unaided for the first time, or something as simple as a weighted blanket, which can have a profound impact on a child with Asperger’s Syndrome.
