On Trend In South Africa This Season With Myer

Leading Australian department store, Myer has partnered with South African Tourism to promote their Spring/Summer 2013 new season Australian and international designer collections.

Showcasing some of the best in Australian and international fashion, the partnership also aims to highlight South Africa as the on-trend travel destination for Australian travellers.

“South African Tourism is excited to partner with Myer to showcase the best of Australian and international fashion designers and to give Australians the opportunity to see just how beautiful our country is,” says Lalie Ngozi, General Manager Australasia, South African Tourism.

Undoubtedly, tribal influences have graced magazine pages and designer palettes over the winter season and following its presence on international catwalks, are expected to continue over Spring/Summer; offering the perfect opportunity for fashionistas to enjoy their piece of South African style.

“It is an opportune time for Australians to learn more about South Africa as a global lifestyle destination, we are home to a number of leading designers and artisans and can entertain a world of performing arts lovers, design aficionados, arts and crafts buyers and music lovers. South Africa has what it takes to be globally competitive when it comes to design, but first and foremost it is a fun filled destination,” continued Ms Ngozi.

Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins, Kris Smith and Jessica Hart enjoyed the unique experience South Africa offered whilst shooting Myer’s Spring/Summer 2013 new season collections.

Glam Adelaide's Kelly Noble was also there to shoot behind the scenes and see what the campaign was all about.

“Shooting the Myer campaign in South Africa at Sun City and the Pilanesberg National Park was amazing. To showcase the best of Australian and international fashion in such unique locations was unforgettable and the exotic set emphasised the colours and textures of the wardrobe,” said Myer Ambassador Jennifer Hawkins.

“South Africa is one of my favourite holiday destinations and combined with Myer’s new season collections and the ‘Cozi’ swimwear range we have the season’s tribal style, infused patterns, bright and vibrant colours mixed with earthy tones all wrapped up,” concluded Jennifer.

The glamorous trio were joined by other Australian models and showcased Myer’s new range of Australian and international designer collections in unique South African destinations; and collections will be released to Myer shoppers in August.

“We decided to shoot in South Africa because Spring/Summer fashion continues to take inspiration from nature and South Africa’s natural magnificence and mysterious intrigue resonates with our offering at Myer,” explained Megan Foster, Myer Group General Manager, Marketing & Brand Development.

The final campaign, supported by South African Tourism, South African Airways and Sun International, can now be seen across a variety of print and online media.

“We could not have completed the trip without the support of our partners South African Airways and Sun International, and we look forward to more Australians discovering the beauty and diversity of South Africa via this campaign,” concluded Ms Ngozi.

Fashionistas around Australia will also have the chance to win a trip to the locations where Jennifer, Kris and Jessica visited through competitions for Myer One members and on Channel Seven’s Sunrise, all in collaboration with the Myer season launch in August, thanks to South African Tourism, South African Airways and Sun International.
