Norwood On Tour Hits The Parade Again This January

Norwood on Tour, which sees thousands of cycling fans (and those who just love a good event) converge on The Parade, Norwood on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 January 2017.

South Australia is on the cusp of the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under, and you can tell. The cyclists are out in force, honing their riding skills ahead of the famous festival, the giant inflatable bike has been erected in Victoria Square, and a fabulous swirl of European accents has descended upon our fair city.

There are dozens of amazing events happening over the coming weeks as part of the TDU, including Norwood on Tour, which sees thousands of cycling fans (and those who just love a good event) converge on The Parade, Norwood on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 January 2017.

Incorporating the official 2017 Santos Tour Down Under Bupa Challenge Tour and Bupa Stage 4 Start, Norwood on Tour will also feature an exciting street party the night before the race, offering food and wine, alfresco dining, live music and children’s entertainment.

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Mayor, Robert Bria, said it was fitting that Norwood would once again play a key role in Australia’s premier cycling event.

“Home to our State’s first velodrome, as well as the oldest cycling club in the Southern Hemisphere, Norwood has a well-deserved reputation as the ‘home of cycling’ in South Australia,” Mayor Bria said.

“The Council is delighted to have been selected to host to the Bupa Challenge Tour and the Bupa Stage 4 Start of the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under, as well as a unique street party in celebration of this fantastic international sporting event,” he said.
