Northern Light Theatre Company Are About To Present Their ‘BIG’est Show Yet!

Northern Light Theatre Company is thrilled to have David Gauci (2015 Cabaret Festival’s ‘Sold Out’ It Was Worth The Weight) at the helm of their latest production, ‘Big’.

All Josh Baskin wants is to be big! Sick and tired of being told that he’s too small to do things, twelve-year-old Josh wishes big to a carnival arcade machine and wakes up to find his wish fulfilled. Stuck in an adult’s body Josh must find his way in a grown-up world navigating life, work and love along the way, all with the help of his young best friend, Billy. As his adult and child worlds start to separate Josh realises that being big is not as easy as he thought and must make the difficult decision between his new life and the one he has always known.

Based on the 1988 family fantasy movie, Big is the 1996 stage musical version with music by David Shire, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr and book by John Weidman. The film starred Tom Hanks in one of his earliest roles (for which he was nominated for the 1989 Academy Award for Best Actor) and featured the now famous dancing on a ‘big’ toy keyboard scene.

Northern Light Theatre Company is thrilled to have David Gauci (2015 Cabaret Festival’s ‘Sold Out’It Was Worth The Weight) at the helm of this production, with the assistance of Shenayde Wilkinson-Sarti as choreographer and Emma Knights as musical director. This award-winning production team (Xanadu), will bring their wealth of experience to the Shedley Theatre in October with a cast of experienced performers alongside new and up-and-coming talent.
