Subaru Australia has entered into a three-year agreement commencing next year, and will supply vehicles for use during the event. It will also become naming rights sponsor of the Subaru King of the Mountain.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said Subaru Australia has a strong commitment to cycling in Australia.

“The new partnership will help to make the Santos Tour Down Under an even bigger event, and will also contribute to the further development of cycling in Australia,” he said.

“As a Tier One car brand in Australia, Subaru has great distribution channels and direct access to many fans of its brand, which will help to promote the Santos Tour Down to a wide audience.”

Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia said they were excited to be a part of the Santos Tour Down Under.

“We are delighted to be a partner of the event and are looking forward to growing together,” said Mr Senior.

“The Santos Tour Down Under offers Subaru the opportunity to expand its involvement in cycling in Australia whilst offering a platform for international promotion through the television broadcast.

“Subaru Australia is synonymous with cycling in Australia through its alliances with Cycling Australia and the Amy Gillett Foundation, and sponsorship of the Santos Tour Down Under further strengthens these ties.

“From the elite competitive grades to community-based cycling, Subaru uses its relationships to promote road safety among two and four-wheel audiences alike.”

Subaru Australia’s involvement in Australian cycling includes the Subaru National Road Series, the TV program Subaru World of Cycling on SBS, and sponsorship of the 2014 Subaru Australian Mountain Bike Season, Subaru NSWIS Development Team and the Subaru-Albion NRS Development Team.

Minister Bignell said the 2015 Santos Tour Down Under would be held from the 17th to the 25th of January, and final race routes and stages would be announced next month.

“This year’s event generated a record $45.9 million for the South Australian economy, with more than 762,000 fans packing the streets of Adelaide and regional centres to watch the exciting cycling action,” he said.

“More than 36,000 of those spectators travelled specifically to South Australia from interstate and overseas for the event.”
