Upcoming local theatre company, Briggs & Heaysman Theatre Company are about to stage an original musical, The Angel of Death with book by Matthew Briggs, music by Josh Heaysman and both Briggs and Heaysman collaborating on the lyrics.

Based in Adelaide, Briggs & Heaysman Theatre Company was founded by Matthew Briggs and Josh Heaysman in 2015 to create an avenue to perform their own shows as well as giving exposure to upcoming authors and artists.

Once we have performed our shows, we then license them out to prospective theatre groups through the licensing side of our business. We are a fresh, innovative group, who are dedicated to bringing new ideas and a unique perspective to Adelaide’s (and Australia’s) Arts Community” says co-founder Briggs. “We will pay our respects to the greats, as well as, shine a spotlight onto upcoming talent”.

Briggs has been involved in all aspects of theatre for 11 years. His vast experience includes stage managing Emily Steel’s Sepia for the 2012 Adelaide Fringe, which won the Tour Ready Award.

Heaysman brings 10 years theatrical experience to the company; particularly in the areas of music and sound production. He studied composition and music theory at Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium and currently arranges for several big bands.

PrintThe Angel Of Death is set in the 16th Century, during the time of Queen Elizabeth I, the Spanish Armada and, supposedly, the birth of the Grim Reaper (aka Angel of Death). The musical explores such unanswered questions as: how did he become the guardian of lost souls? The story line also features an axe-wielding Queen Elizabeth I and her newly appointed knuckle headed captains, Will and Harry.

The Angel of Death is the world, non-professional, theatre premiere of this show. “Briggs & Heaysman Theatre Co. are proud to introduce their musical to Adelaide audiences for the first time. We are to shine the spotlight on some of Adelaide’s finest performers and rising stars in amateur theatre in South Australia. Our principle performers include the likes of Theodore Girgolas as The Angel of Death and Kimberly Jones as Queen Elizabeth I”.

Directed by Matthew Briggs, with musical arrangements by Josh Heaysman, choreography by Ashlee Skinner, set and costume design by Matthew Briggs, and sound and lighting design by Stephen Dean, The Angel of Death will be performed at The Bakehouse Theatre, 255 Angas Street, Adelaide, for a strictly limited season of five shows: 26th (preview) January 2016 at 7pm, and 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th January 2016 at 8pm.

Ticket prices are $18 adults and $13 concession for the preview show, and $23 adults and $18 concession for all other performances. Tickets are available at http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/
